Daylesford is the Spa Capital of Australia with over 70% of Victoria's mineral water in this location. Daylesford is a mecca for those wanting to partake of the waters with more massage therapists per capita than possibly anywhere in Australia. Daylesford and it's sister town Hepburn Springs cater mostly for those needing Rest and Relaxation and being surrounded by the beautiful Wombat Forest and only around an hour and a half from Melbourne it is very popular.

Attractions for this destination including natural and man made. Take a walk in the bush, paddle down a river or on a lake, go skiing, surfing or paint the scenery. Not into natural landscapes then go to a winery or cidery, check out a market, play golf or visit a gallery. There is plenty to choose from.

Not to be confused with the Daylesford Sunday Market. Daylesford Farmers Market is on the first Saturday of each month at the Daylesford Primary School (just down the hill from the post office towards the lake Daylesford). A gold coin donation will get you in so you can peruse the local produce of the Hepburn Shire (and further afield) within the beautiful surrounds of the park.

If you haven't visited the Daylesford Lake while in the town you really have missed out on something special. The Daylesford Lake is not a natural body of water but rather a man made lake having been originally gold diggings until exhausted and then an extensive Chinese Market Garden with Chinese village, Joss House and store. In 1883 it was envisaged to turn the area into a lake and construction finally began in 1927.

You can spend hundreds of dollars on accommodation for views of the lake in Daylesford or you can go around the corner to Lake Jubilee pitch a tent or take your van for next to nothing. Even if you hire a cabin it's dirt cheap for the view. Jubilee Lake offers canoe hire, has a milkbar for essentials, playground for the kids, and hiking that goes for kilometres.

For the 15 years that I have been visiting Daylesford this has been a tradition for locals and visitors alike. Not many may go to church on a Sunday but they do make it to the Sunday Market. Starting at 8 a.m (be kind and come at 9 a.m. to allow the stall owners to wake) till 3 p.m. (although many are finished by 2 p.m.) every Sunday no matter what the weather is like.

A very imporessive establishment offering three levels of fine art, gifts and dining. Before entering the building please take some time to explore the garden as you wont be disappointed.

The Daylesford Sunday Market is located in Raglan Street just around the corner from the main street which is Vincent Street. This is a very busy market that operates every Sunday from 8 a.m. to around 3 p.m. The parking gets very full so you may want to get there early. Parking in one of the side streets is fine and the walk is easy.
