I grew up and live in Victoria so the state is obviously very special to me. I consider Melbourne one of the best cities in the world and I have seen quite a few. Victoria has some of the best beaches and surf in the world. The wineries are world renowned as are regional locations like Daylesford which was voted funkiest town in the world by British Airways. Best of all Victoria has a climate of changing weather from cold to hot in the space of a day. No boredom here.

Melbourne
Melbourne is the capital city of Victoria and considered to be the financial and cultural hub of Australia. It is a large city and growing bigger all the time. The architecture ranges from heritage to ultra modern and everything in between. |
Daylesford
The first thing you notice on the approach to Daylesford is the tall eucalyptus trees lined on both sides of the road. I have nearly always approached from the midland Highway (Ballarat - Melbourne Rd) so it has become my favorite but which ever way you come from there are winding roads with tall trees. Daylesford has a feeling of abundance. |
Bendigo
Bendigo is one of my favorite destinations in Australia. Offering heritage architecture, beautiful gardens, large shade trees and brilliant cafes, I go back again and again. Few rural cities I have visited put as much effort into beautifying their town as Bendigo. |
Geelong
Geelong is known as the City by the Bay and finally it's earned that name. The waterfront region is a credit to Geelong lifting it to visitor standards comparable throughout Australia. Eastern Beach has been rebuilt and now offers a cafe, a restaurant, and a takeaway. |
Lorne
Lorne is about an hours drive from Geelong along the Great Ocean Road. Just traveling along the Great Ocean Road makes Lorne a worthwhile destination alone. Lorne is a very popular seaside destination and quite a reasonable size town. It has much better shopping than most beach areas. |
Ballarat
I have been visiting Ballarat for well over 20 years. It goes back even further to when my parents used to take to the Begonia Festival and to see the Grand Parade. As a child I also had a friend who played the bagpipes in Ballarat. |
